with the end of the school year coming quickly, avery has been very busy with concerts, plays, field trips, and last night...the big awards assembly. it was held at the nancy o'brian center for performing arts located on the norman north high school campus. it is a beautiful place and is a nice "back drop" for such a special event.
we got a letter a couple of weeks ago encouraging us to attend because avery would be receiving an award.
then a week ago, at the play, i read in the program that avery was chosen as "outstanding vocal music student" along with 3 others. he didn't even know! that is the award i thought the letter was referencing.
he did receive that award after his music teacher, Mrs. Lucas, gave a very nice speech about the recipients. he also received awards in band, botball, and math.
BUT!...the very last award to be given..."best all-around students"...two boys and two girls from each grade were announced and guess what?!...my son was one of the two boys selected for sixth grade! *here come the tears again!
i cannot express how proud i am of him. tobin and i think he is a very special human being, but when a whole team of teachers and principles notice this...it just feels amazing. i am so happy for him!

That's awesome to see Avery excel in many different areas. He seems very well rounded like both his parents. I know you're proud.
