a day on campus

when the university unleashes all of those crazy college kids and they go home, our town becomes very quiet...our neck of the woods does, anyway.
we like to use the campus, which is just over 1/2 a mile from our front door, as our personal playground, especially during summer.  sometimes we are on foot, sometimes on bike, but every time we stop to smell the roses!
we have been exploring this area for many, many years and still feel like it is an adventure every time.
now, avery knows where that next water fountain is; each landmark brings back memories from way back for him; and he can endure a tour of the WHOLE campus and not poop out.
this past weekend we saddled up and headed to campus.  it was an amazing day, weather wise and we spent several hours exploring and enjoying.  we did our "water fountain tour"...we check out every fountain on campus...they keep adding a new one so our tour increases in length all the time.  avery dipped his hand into every single one...his goal for our outing.

part II to follow...

this is a shot of the playground avery played on during his preschool years at the institute for child development...part of the university's college of education

one of many squatting men sprinkled about the exterior of the library

a circle of gargoyles...seemingly ready to pounce
