JUMP! wichita mtns. 11.07.2010.
it has been a glorious fall here in okieland. the colors are rich with yellows, oranges, and reds. the crisp mornings transform into just-right afternoon temps. the sound of crunching leaves under foot (or bike tire) have been music to my ears.
my parents spent this past weekend with us. they brought their newly adopted dog, jake, with them. he is a very sweet, well behaved guy. he seems to have some "cow dog" in him. he was found on the run by my parents' vet. he is in recovery from whatever sadness life dealt him before he was saved.
we packed in the fun. saturday morning was spent hiking urban trails with the dogs. we wore them out and spent a bit of time at a local thrift store...all of us walking out with some "finds". then on to a birthday party, then book club, and ended the day with pepe's...our fave mexican food spot. sunday we headed west to the 500 million year old granite mountains also known as the wichita mountains. this is one of my favorite spots in oklahoma. the range is one of the first sights i saw when i moved here and also where my husband proposed to me. this beautiful, old place inspires me. we had such a nice time. the dogs had smiles on their faces from start to finish. it was so wonderful!
