if i have spoken to you in the past year, you have heard me complain about our across-the-street neighbors and their neglect with their cats. there have been about 10 (that i know of) litters born in the past 12 months. these cats are mostly feral and keep on keepin' on. i cringe every time i see a couple of fuzz ball kittens bouncing around. they are cute, but come on!!
our two cats like to be outside during the day...hanging out in the sun, lounging in the garden, sleeping on the porch. the neighborhood cats don't seem to bother our yard...between the dog and the two toughy cats, they stay away. until this last liter emerged from the neighbors garage, that is. the tiny cuties have been hovering around our front yard. drinking from the water i have out and playing in our monkey grass. step one foot too close to these tinys and they are gone. one thing they left in their wake was coccidia. thank you very much. not really.
i spent $275 dollars at the vet today dealing with this awfulness and poor loki is not feeling very well. she is on meds and we are using bleach like crazy...which is one of my least favorite things to do.
i know that we are responsible for our pets and letting the cats outdoors comes with risks, but please people....spay or neuter your four legged friend! there is only so much room on this planet and only so many resources in nature/neighbors.

oh nuts! cocoa had that when we brought her home from the shelter...this is a nasty parasite and it will actually kill your pet if you don't treat it. if those cats don't get treated they will eventually die. i know that sounds horrible, but survival of the fittest.
