U2 came to town

when i was in high school i discovered the band U2...although they had been around since 1976! i wore out all the cassettes i owned of this rockin' band...blaring the music in my little renault alliance. i always found the lyrics to be very touching, very spiritual.
this past sunday U2 visited the oklahoma university's football stadium. this is the second time (since i have lived here) that OU hosted a big show.
twelve years ago, on an october evening, tobin and i (and son and joel and other friends) made our way to the stadium, leaving our babies with babysitters, to see The Rolling Stones...TWELVE years ago!
this time, our baby came with us. we wanted him to experience this amazing band and all the excitement that it would entail. he was left speechless and very touched...he, too, finds the lyrics special.
the experience was wonderful. the opening band, The Black Eyed Peas, was great (my sister and i never missed an episode of "kids incorporated" when we were young...starring Fergi, as a small girl). the stage was amazing. the crowd was rocked for sure!
twelve years ago, around midnight, when we returned from an amazing experience with The Stones, we found 6 month old avery awake and playing (he NEVER woke up to play at night) and our pooch, jonah, on the FRONT porch...not the fenced in back porch. twelve years later, sunday night, we got home, of course avery was awake (nearly midnight) and we found our now pooch, ripley, out of his crate...roaming the dark house (he is nearly 6 months old and has puppy teeth falling out and adult teeth growing in like crazy! this equals "what did he tear up?!?! thoughts)...luckily the house was safe and he was alright (he somehow managed to breech his cell!) tobin summed it up perfectly..."well, it wouldn't be an amazing show/night if avery wasn't still awake and the dog was out"...perfect.

t & a posing for a pic during the night

the amazing stage...the honeycomb like red you see was also a screen and it moved up and down...it was very cool...
also, along the "legs" of the 4 story stage, tucked inside, were people manning the spotlights...sitting in suspended chairs...it was fun to examine the set up!
