what have i agreed to???

for as long as avery could ask and beg it has been for a kitten of his very own.

we have an old dog...as you have read and an old cat, loki.  they were both here before avery.  

when he was 4 or 5, someone was giving away kittens at the farmer's market.  he and i were there as we are every weekend in the summer and he begged me to adopt one for him.  we called his dad so he could talk it over with him and sadly, his dad said, "NO!" after a few tears were shed we left the kittens and took our fruit and veggies and headed for the library.  he then spilled the beans to our children's librarian, "miss kim".  she has been a staple in our lives since avery was a wee one.  she took his story seriously and typed up a long letter to tobin.  she declared librarian power and insisted that every boy needs a kitten.  still, this did not sway the man.

but today was a different story.  we innocently took our old dog in to get his liver enzymes checked and there was this lovely little kitten in need of a home.  she instantly took a liking to jonah.  avery was in love!  they let us hang out with her in a room for a while and eventually talked us (not that it took much talking) into taking her home for the night.  

she is hanging out with her guy, avery, right now.  he has named her artemis.  she is so lovely. mottled gray with ginger colored eyes.  she is wild and fun and sweet and a kitten.  

tobin is accepting this with incredible grace...such a sweet dad!
