today tobin and i ventured to okc to check out glass for our kitchen cabinets. we have been meaning to do this for 6 years. we somehow got sidetracked and spent the time at a custom car shop instead.
surprisingly, i was not at all annoyed with this.
there was something about the men that filled this cave of manliness that made me smile. as we (tobin) talked to these guys i looked from one of them to the other as they clearly expressed their passion for the old, the forgotten autos of our past. this place is truly a hotbed of inspiration and love of art, in the form of hotrods.
jerry, the owner, a man in his 70's, maybe, was so sweet and so passionate...the men, his buddies, that filled the space, the same.
tobin told them of his 1965 custom chevy van...a van, they realized, that once belonged to a buddy of theirs. i could see the memories this evoked etched across their wrinkled faces.
as i looked from one bearded face (mostly silver bearded and one black bearded) to the other, i felt tears well up in my eyes. it makes me so happy to see people living their dreams, whatever they are. i find great pleasure witnessing people doing what they love in life.
we were invited to an "open house"...full of people, their hotrods, and their stories. coffee, popcorn, and hotrods...10am tomorrow.
the pics i have posted are of some of jerry's finds. a camper, complete with a kitchen...all retro and a beetle that tobin is drooling over.

How great would that camper be to do "tailgating" at an OU football game. That is, if I was into that sort of thing, which I'm NOT.
