that i was so in love with the mullet in the eighties!
here is how this post happened...i volunteered to chaperone 1/2 of avery's 6th grade to the little river zoo.
it was a lot of fun and i was planning on posting about it. i then thought it would be fun to put photos of all of the previous visits to the zoo in the post. i have some in my iphoto, but i have others that were taken before we bought a digital camera.
while i was looking for these old photos, i came across an alarming number of pics of me in the eighties with a mullet. i remember LOVING my hair, but i guess i didn't realize how long i loved the mullet! these few don't even put a dent in the number of photos i have documenting this love.
i am standing in front of our apartment building in kitzigen, germany. i think i am holding my roller skates about to go for a skate. straight, shaggy mullet...with an alfalfa like sprig thanks to the wind.
this is my mullet after my first perm. i looked ticked off...not sure why. moody i guess or maybe i didn't like the perm. i do remember that a lady on the very top floor apt. gave me the perm. she was hispanic and had 6 or 7 kids. that apt. was HUGE. the very top floor of these buildings either had giant apts. with a bunch of bedrooms or were huge open areas and called rec rooms. we lived on the top of a hill with many buildings. every apt. was filled with a family...this meant a BUNCH of kids. our hill was dubbed "rugrat hill". we would traverse one of the many trails down "suicide hill" to get to school every day. it was that or walk WAY around, adding 15 min. to the travel time.
my best friend in germany was stacey. we were having a sleep over and making pizzas. she looks like she belongs on the set of the cosby show with that outfit! and i am wearing a favorite pair of braxtons...nice. once again...the permed mullet.
i have clearly done something silly here. my mom's body language is screaming frustration. i look a little sorry, but i don't know...
mullet #3.
my sister's birthday is 3 days after christmas...bummer. we always have fun celebrating her birthday, none the less, and in proper birthday style. but, some relatives never caught on to how annoying it might be to have a birthday so close to a major gift giving holiday. she would often get presents that were christmas/birthday or birthday presents wrapped with christmas paper. looks like i got my mullet cleaned up. notice the sideburns.

That's actually a good look for you...maybe you should bring it back. I especially like the permed mullet.
My fav has to be the one with the sideburns. Did your parents secretly want a boy?
one must wonder...
